FIFO Buffer Unit (FBU)

FIFO Buffer Unit

The standard FBU Single Buffer Unit can stock up to about 40 PCBs in the stacker section above the transport belts. If the units downstream have the capacity to process more PCBs, the buffer will release the stacked PCBs in succession according to the FIFO ("first-in-first-out") principle.
The stacker itself mainly consists of a front and rear stacker wall, each wall lined with a number of vertical belts with studs. Front and rear belts are driven by synchronized stepper motors. Between the two stacker walls, at SMEMA-height, are the transport belts that carry the PCB. As the PCB enters the space between the two stacker walls, the vertical belts move up one pitch-length, causing the studs to lift the PCB from the transport belts. The entire stack rises one pitch-length. The FIFO buffer will move the entire stack down until the top PCB is level with the transport belts before unloading the first-in PCB.
The FBU FIFO Buffer Unit integrates easily in a fully automated SMEMA-compatible test environment. The control panel with touch screen gives access to all parameters and settings.
