In order to keep up with the increased demand for IPTE fixtures, IPTE decided to open a third major fixture house. Next to Malville and Oradea, IPTE now can also offer fixtures from Heroldsberg (located in the Nuremberg area). Here, bed-of-nails adapters are being produced according to the highest standards for an entire range of relevant applications, such as in-circuit tests, functional tests, flash programming and end-of-line product tests. The Fixture House department currently employs a staff of twelve. What is unique in this business is the specific service featuring com-prehensive automated verification of each adapter before its delivery to the customer. This is provided as a matter of course using a special fixture tester which rigorously checks all contacts and the wiring by continuity and short-circuit tests, and after completion, provides a full report of the entire process. Therefore, not a single flaw can go undetected.
The Fixture House’s vertical range of adapter manufacture abilities comprises me-chanical design, production of the individual parts needed, build-up, fixed wiring, and the electrical and mechanical tests. As an adapter of this kind is always a custom-specific item, the fixture-test procedure too can be exactly designed according to special user requirements. And with strain gauge strips a precise mechanical stress test of the fixtures can also be provided. The bed-of-nails can additionally be equipped with optical fibers for the DUTs (devices under test), for example, based on LED technology. Another option is a preventive top-class ESD (electrostatic discharge) coating of the adapter surface.
The IPTE Fixture House has access to a huge stockpile of standard parts needed for adapter construction, and the manufacture process is based on partial pre-wiring. These measures therefore allow for a very quick response to incoming orders, as well as a very short lead-time. The bed-of-nails adapters are being delivered and used worldwide, with customers located in, for example, Europe, India, China and Mexico. The lion’s share of users comes from the automotive industry, where the demands on fixture quality and reliability are especially high.

Die IPTE Germany GmbH hat am Standort in Heroldsberg ein Fixture House eröffnet. Produziert werden dort nach höchsten Qualitätsmaßstäben Nadelbetten für In-Circuit-Test, Funktionstest, Flasher und End-of-Line-Test. Aktuell arbeiten zwölf Mitarbeiter im Fixture House. Alleinstellungsmerkmal der Aktivität ist ein automatischer Testdurchlauf für alle Adapter vor der Auslieferung. Basis dafür ist ein speziell entwickelter Tester, der alle Kontakte einer Durchgangs- und Kurzschluss-Prüfung unterzieht und den kompletten Test dokumentiert.
Die Fertigungstiefe des IPTE Fixture House umfasst die mechanische Konstruktion, Teilefertigung, Aufbau, Verdrahtung sowie elektrischer und mechanischer Test. Der abschließende Test kann flexibel auch nach speziellen Kundenanforderungen gestaltet werden. Zudem ist ein mechanischer Stresstest für den Prüfling mit Hilfe von Dehnungsmessstreifen möglich. Die Nadelbetten können darüber hinaus mit Lichtleitern für Prüflinge, beispielsweise mit LEDs, ausgerüstet werden. Als zusätzliche Option ist eine hochwertige ESD-Beschichtung für die Adapter realisierbar.
Eine weitreichende Bevorratung von Standardkomponenten und die partielle Vorverdrahtung erlauben dem IPTE Fixture House eine besonders schnelle Reaktionszeit auf Aufträge sowie eine geringe Durchlaufzeit. Die Nadelbetten sind weltweit im Einsatz. So wurden bisher Aufträge nach Europa, Indien, China und Mexiko ausgeliefert. Die Kunden kommen hauptsächlich aus dem Automotive-Bereich und haben sehr hohe Anforderungen an die Qualität der Fixtures.
